In his view, what the countries and nations of the region have in common is much more than the things used as grounds for separation and confrontation in centuries past. That is why it can be used today as a specific source of economic and social development, for building up closer ties, for opening the countries towards one another and for their integration in the common European area.
The forum “Cultural Corridors of Southeast Europe: Common Past and Shared Heritage, A Key to Future Partnership” is a specific manifestation of the view that “the region can speak and think with its own voice”. The meeting held on Georgi Parvanov’s initiative was the venue for direct dialogue of the presidents of eight countries of the region, who adopted a Declaration on Investigation, Preservation, Sustainable Use and Promotion of the Cultural Corridors of Southeast Europe. |
