Parvanov – the first President of Bulgaria to have been re-elected for a second term in office

Georgi Parvanov and Angel Marin won the run-off presidential elections with the impressive result of 75.9% of the votes. The opponents Volen Siderov – Pavel Shopov got 24.1% of the votes.
2,050,488 Bulgarian citizens have supported the winning couple, while the candidates nominated by the Attack party were supported by 649,387. 7,000 more people have voted in favor of Parvanov and Marin compared to their number at the run-off elections five years ago.
The final results were announced today with a decision of the Central Election Commission. Representative of the Commission Snezhana Nacheva stated that the decision of commission’s decision by which Georgi Parvanov and Angel Marin are to be declared elected for President and Vice President of the republic, has already been gazetted.
